Business: Automobile manufacturer.

Challenge: Definition of suspension systems parameters aiming for a balanced relationship between comfort and handling characteristics of a Brazilian off-road vehicle.

Solution: Ride and handling simulations were performed using the MSC.Adams/Car software and a multibody dynamics model, which included the steering/suspension systems and the sprung masses of the vehicle.

Value: Definition of suspension parameters (spring stiffness, damping curves, stiffness and clearances of bumpstops, geometry and stiffness of stabilizer bars) through ride and handling analysis looking for a good compromise among comfort, driveability and safety.
